Siena College

Two hundred and sixty nine students were recently inducted into prestigious honor societies.

Siena College business students showcased collaborative research and celebrated their success at the 8th Annual Student Conference in Business. They also had the opportunity to hear first-hand that a Siena education can lead to achievements in the business world.

On April 25 the Creative Arts Department and Stage III hosted the fifth annual Hollywood Trashion Fashion event. Taryn Dibble '13, with her costume titled "Connection Disconnection," was crowned champion. Kat Canavan '15, who modeled her design titled "Springtime Red Carpet Stroll," received second place and Erin Griffin '13, with her piece "Ode to Capstone," was awarded third place. Costumes were judged based on runway style, design and creative use of materials.

A team of ten Siena College students with a strong acumen for investing has won a stock portfolio management competition called the Adirondack Cup.

Approximately 40 Siena students have been helping Capital Region residents file their tax returns through the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program this spring. The students have been volunteering at various locations helping those in need.

Siena College's James P. King Moot Court/Mock Trial Team tied for 7th in their regional tournament and will compete at nationals March 15-17, 2013.

The Siena College Enactus team was named a Regional Champion at the Enactus United States Regional Competition held on April 3 in New York City.

Ten Siena College students spent a week in the Dominican Republic during winter break working with Franciscan sisters in Santo Domingo as part of a service trip sponsored by the Sr. Thea Bowman Center for Women.

Schenectady resident and Siena College senior Vincenzo Polsinelli recently organized and led a trip for Habitat for Humanity to Haiti.

During winter break, 22 students, joined eight faculty members on a trip to Italy, the birthplace of the Franciscan tradition on which Siena College was founded. The trip, called “Religious Treasures of Italy,” took the group on a tour around the country, exploring the historic and religious aspects of each city visited, including Rome, Venice, Florence, Assisi and, of course, Siena.
